For the Week of Jul 28th, 2008 -- The New Moon on Friday lights up your 9th house of faraway places, giving you an urge for travel. Yet even if you can't leave town, seeking out the company of exotic individuals might fulfill your hunger for adventure. Avoid serious people since this isn't the ideal time to make a commitment, although it's perfect for just letting go and having fun.

Avoiding serious people is one of my life's goals. Well, not always, but life is way too serious these days. There is a time and place for serious. I find if I start taking too many things seriously it is quite depressing. How many times did I use 'serious'? But seriously, there has to be a yin and yang thing going on in any body's life. Some say the winter makes them turn inward with the short days and long nights. Maybe because I'm more of a night person I find the summer has this effect on my thoughts. If I'm not careful I may become too serious. What would that be like, I wonder? For now I'll keep my eye out for those exotic individuals who fulfill my hunger for adventure. On second thought, that probably won't be necessary. We usually find one another. It's just the way it is. Seriously.

Peaceful Pow Wow

A soft cool breeze whispered Friday night. The circle was formed. Kindling and wood were stacked in the center waiting to be transformed to a blazing bonfire later in the evening.
Seven Clouds drummed and sang for an inter tribal dance. Familiar faces danced the circle, some I've seen for twenty summers. When my daughter was a baby we would stroll around, cheering the dancers, chatting with friends and neighbors and the wonderful vendors. We still do. Life is change, but this tradition continues in a beautifully familiar way.
The peaceful feeling usually lasts a while. It is so good for the spirit.

Monty Python Haiku

Here is the great way I started my day. Nervousness is a mail art site, but oh so much more.

This morning's exchange on the Haiku Gone Wild thread was so daffy and delightful. One player writes their haiku and leaves a word for the next player. My word was 'rapid'. The word I left was 'softly'. Oh yes, I am a Monty Python fan.

Well, alright!

Heading for the Pow Wow at the Queens County Farm this weekend. There's plenty of dancing there. It's always a spiritual experience. The sense of togetherness is so powerful. Maybe it can permeate the consciousness for a while after the Pow Wow ends. When everyone joins in the Circle Dance around the bonfire it is magical.

Tree of Life

These are pages from one of my favorite Fat or Chunky Books, titled Tree of Life. All the contributing artists, thirty I think, interpreted this theme. Some created the tree of their life. Others used a more universal theme. We can learn quite a bit if we enjoy and appreciate the wonder and beauty of trees. They change with the seasons, yet remain true to what they are from the roots to the bark to the leaves. That's a beautiful lesson indeed.

Mixed Feelings

For the Week of Jul 7th, 2008 -- It's understandable if you have very mixed feelings this weekend. At one moment you can be your usual outgoing self and the next want to go away somewhere and hide. Both are honest expressions of yourself, so don't be embarrassed if that happens. Play hard, but leave yourself a handy escape route.

Escape routes are a must.
